Hey,
As obvious as is the title. Its the review of the movie Kites.
Why did I feel the need to write the review because everybody else is cursing, blaming the movie. Media is mocking at Hrirtik's acting too. I was like, Wats wrong!!! I am sure it is more of a Viral effect...
Yes, I dont feel I am different because I liked the movie. The movie is not super-fantastic but its not bad too....
Kites HAS a story
It has a REALISTIC end (unlike typical bollywood love stories)
Hritik and Babara acted really well, they look super cute and lovely. At no point in the movie I felt the acting is not good (Forget Kangana Ranaut and rest fo the cast I am just not talking about them). The last scene acting of Hritik was just mind blowing.......
The stunts and chase sequence were a bit unrealistic but if we accept and agree with similar hollywood shit why not the bollywood one?? Atleast they were neat. At that point one may feel that the movie is dragging.
I liked the editing, the story-telling, the transition between past-present.
They did a superb job of conveying a love story between two people who dont know each other's language. It was all said by their expressions (offcourse ans sub-titles were necessary at times).
Music is good. Some people blamed the background score too!!!!!!!!
I believe high expectation set by Hritik himself for the movie worked against him. I think people were expecting a bit too much all the time and forgot to njoy the movie.
I liked the movie. I found it to be simple love story. A few action sequences could have been avoided. Rest of the star cast didnt act well. But I was not in mood to pay attention to them :D. The movie could have been shorter though.
(* No, I dont have any soft corner for Hritik!! *)
My rating - 3.5/5
P.S. : These are strictly My views about the movie :)
Nice unabashed review!
ReplyDeleteTechnicalities of the movie, awesome (except for action scenes, just car chases? c'mon). Actors n performances, awesome (not considering the mindless extras). Direction, awesome.
ReplyDeleteBut together, what came out was a big let down. What's with that slow pace, those slow-mo sequences. I mean it was fine till the love story. I can sit through the slow romantic drama. But after that it was just unbearable, later part of second half precisely. I was sitting there stunned, not with excitement, but with the lack of it.
PS: Didn't know you scribble at a blog. Need to catchup with older posts :)
I saw TOI giving 2.5 or so .. probably indiatimes.com was not among the media partner :)
ReplyDeleteNo offence meant, but...
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen Kite, and probably will not see, unless threatened at a gunpoint (or offered a million dollars!).
> It has a REALISTIC end (unlike typical bollywood love stories)
See... this itself explains why it wasn't a hit! People don't want reality, they want the general maal-masala with zillion non-sense unrealistic stupid and mushy stuff. The moment it starts resembling reality, our population has a tendency to dislike it. This is my general observation.

Tell me ONE hollywood love story that has stunts! The problem with Bolly is what they want to shove as much shit as they can into a single movie! They forget the theme, setting and everything else there is to the movie. Matrix, for example, though totally unrealistic, makes for an amazing movie, the reason is simple: they set the theme of movie very well in the beginning.
And they NEVER digress from the central strong theme. You will VERY rarely see unrealistic stunts in romantic Hollywood movies, because they simply don't gel.
That is THE difference between us and them.
Do one thing, but do it bloody well, very few Bolly directors get that point. And that is one of the reasons I'm permanently alienated with the nonsense they produce.
> The movie could have been shorter though.
You kidding me! It MUST be shorter! Who on earth has time to bear the torture for 3+ bloody hours!
The thought of sitting through 3 hrs itself is discouraging enough to keep me at a distance from Bolly sh!t.
But, again, it is just me, and of course, NOM to Bolly-fans :)
PS was not necessory da. blog is yours you can write anything here....
